Tell us your bold boss story!:

A little over a year ago I teamed up with a friend to sell a direct sales line of women's clothing, predominately online. Throughout that year I worked so hard to create something that was different from the other ladies selling our line - from developing our own graphics, to creating a true community on facebook , to style challenges with our group, you name it, I did it! Fast forward a bit and, for a handful of reasons that aren't really important here, we made the decision to close up our shop. I, however, had been bitten by the branding and graphics bug, and didn't want to give that up - it was something that I loved and, as it turns out, was pretty darn good at!

So, while one business was closing, my head was filled with ideas of how I could keep creating graphics, and, more than that, continue to help direct sales gals knock it out of the park. When a friend approached me about helping her develop her branding for her new direct sales business, I jumped on it! What started out as just pulling together a brand board and a few graphic templates morphed into managing her Instagram . . . and then managing the Instagram account of another direct sales team! I'm just a few months into this side gig (oh right, I didn't mention that above, I have an almost 4 year old, husband, two dogs, AND a full-time job too), but it has been so fulfilling and fun and I never want that to stop!

I had only been managing the Instagram presence for my first official client for about 2 weeks, when I got a message from her saying "Ummm... so I'm definitely going to have to keep paying you, because I got THREE sales and new group members based on your IG work!" Proud moment there - only a couple of weeks into this side gig and already my client was able to wave her brag flag!

What advice or words of encouragement do you have for the Bold Boss Tribe?:

My biggest piece of advice is to be true to you. Don't let yourself get bogged down with whatever is trending - whether that's in branding colors, font pairings, social media channel usage, etc.. Instead, listen to your heart, and be authentically you without any apologies!

I started a wellness subscription company that has morphed into something so special! I have always been interested in the wellness space giving friends tips and tricks to find their best self through working out and eating well.... without giving up the things they love, it’s all about moderation and balance!

I wanted to create something for people who cared about self-care, self-love and not just a "quick fix". Something more than just take a pill and you will be cured but a community that is formed through trust and learning in the process.

Ekka Recovery inspires individuals to help them through their hard times while having a community that they can call on.

I think my biggest boss moment is being able to wear as many hats as needed. Most hats I didn't even know I could do! I am pretty amazed that I can figure things out when fires happen. I mean... Google is my savior BUT I'm the one that did the work!

I'm proud that in less than 3 weeks I brought (with the help of my amazing business partner) the company 15k. I'm proud that I am able to continuously hustle and let people know what we are up to. I'm proud at how dedicated I am to this company and the mission behind it. I can honestly say that I live, breathe, and dream Ekka. This is not just a job. This is a lifestyle!

What advice or words of encouragement do you have for the Bold Boss Tribe?:

In the similar words of Glengarry Glen Ross... Always Be Open. The life of an entrepreneur means shifts, spirals and consistent change. Pivots are going to continue to happen. Try things on to see how they fit and if they work and don't be married to an idea because sometimes it just may not be the best fit for the company. That doesn't mean change your strategy like you change your underwear... I mean be open to the idea that in order to grow change needs happen.

Tell us your bold boss story!:

I am a former elementary music teacher and private piano instructor. I became a stay at home mom after having our 2nd out of 3 boys. I missed teaching music and wanted a way to teach kids that may not have a music program at school, need music in their homeschool curriculum, or who want to
learn piano but want to learn from their home. So I started my site where I teach music and have a piano course and a music education
subscription.

Starting my own online music teaching business is my bold boss move. I always dreamed of having my own music studio, and love the way I am pursuing my passion by combining my love of teaching music and
owning my own online studio.

What advice or words of encouragement do you have for the Bold Boss Tribe?:

Don't give up. Honestly taking baby steps is better than taking no steps. Keep following your dreams and you will see results.
