Tell us your bold boss story!

In 2010 I left for London with only 300 pounds in my pocket and no clue where I was going to sleep or if I would ever find a job. I worked as a waitress. I cried 70% of my total work experience in London. It was really tough. Either I wasn’t good at all, my colleagues weren’t nice to me, or I was always having serious issues with my relationship at that time. When I finally had enough of this all - I left London and came back home to Lithuania completely broken -- mentally, physically and financially.

From the very first day that I arrived home I put all of my time and energy into learning what I wanted to be, and where I should start. I knew that I wanted to be a graphic designer, since I actually went to London to study that. I then discovered blogs, and learned about the concept of blog design. So I started learning about it all: watched endless amount of tutorials about designing, HTML/CSS coding, read all the articles about blogging. It didn’t take me long to start earning good money from it, so in 2013 I opened my web store called Don't Tell Anyone along with a blog. Everything went well for the first year but then things changed.

I moved to a bigger city, the capital of Lithuania - Vilnius, where I stopped working hard and got involved into partying and summer festivals. I wasted all the money that I had earned on silly things that I don’t remember much of. The day I came back to work - I realized everyone was gone. I had 0 clients, 0 traffic… 0 sales. Now it’s been a year since I’ve been struggling and I working my ass off daily to rebuild the community for my blog, increase the traffic and clientele.

I had been stressing a lot as I had a lot of taxes to pay for the government regarding my business. That led me to have a surgery - which was also huge and terrifying. Now I’m learning to wind off, let things go, find a balance, do daily workouts, and not to give up on my dreams and things that make me happy, even if sometimes it doesn’t seem like it's working at all.

We're all about bold boss moments, tell us about one of yours!

The day when I received a comment and a compliment from one of my favorite blogger and graphic designer about my work, blog, and design style. It meant a lot to me. Or when I got featured on my favorite fashion brand's Instagram! And definitely the day when I finally launched my first ever fitness e-course!

There are definitely many more these kind of moments and they all are priceless!

What advice or words of encouragement do you have for the Bold Boss Tribe?

Believe in yourself no matter what. Usually the first thought or idea that comes to your mind is the best one! Though sometimes we tend to give it up. But don’t! Write it down, maybe not today, but one day you will see it as a genius idea! :) Name your weaknesses and strengths, know them and work on them. Focus on your strengths, do the best you can, but also don’t forget to work on your weaknesses - if not possible, hire or find someone to do the work that you’re weak at! Don’t be afraid, don’t let the fear put you down! And never forget that you don’t need to know everything, and there’s nothing wrong about that!
