Tell us your bold boss story!:
I've been in financial services for over 40 years. About 20 years ago, a colleague suggested I expand into financial planning and asset management. Shortly after, a close friend lost her husband, leaving her in a financial mess. Her husband left behind a lot of debt and closed out life insurance policies to stay afloat. It took us a year of working together to sort through everything and get her on solid ground. This opened my eyes to the needs faced by many women that find themselves "suddenly single". If they are not the ones managing the household finances, they are often in the dark and at the mercy of "well-meaning advisors". In my friend's case, she was advised to file bankruptcy. By working together, she avoided that mistake. I discovered her husband carried "consumer credit life insurance" on many debts, so she didn't have to pay those bills. Since this experience, I've been on a mission of helping women by empowering them with smart money strategies.
As a Certified Money Coach®, I create a bridge between behavioral finance and financial planning. Helping clients get to the root of why they make the decisions they make helps them realize their present financial status is a symptom of life choices. Throughout the process, I hold their hand while holding them accountable. Helping my clients plan for the future while enjoying the present is not a profession, it is a calling.
When I'm not working, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, traveling, cooking and hiking with my grand-dog, Jackie.
We're all about bold boss moments, tell us about one of yours!:
At 38, I returned to school to complete my bachelor's degree. I was broke, working full time and raising 2 children. I worked during the day and went to school at night and graduated cum laude. After passing exams to get licensed as a financial planner and asset manager, I enrolled in the CFP program. I completed the program in less than 18 months! After searching for a way to help people understand why they make certain money decisions, I found the Certified Money Coach program and enrolled immediately. Once I completed the certification process, I revamped my wealth coaching process to include money coaching. My wealth coaching system blends the logical aspects of financial planning with the emotional side of money coaching. My process inspires clients to take action toward creating their ideal present and future lifestyle.
