Tell us your bold boss story!
I left my corporate job to pursue my passion and teach Pilates. My boss at the time sat me down and asked me if I really thought I could make a living doing that. I told him I'd find a way! I taught full time for a few years and although I loved it, felt frustrated by the limitations of trading dollars for hours and maxing out my client load (not to mention I felt that burnout was right around the corner). So I took my Pilates business online. For the past 5 years, I've been running online programs and am now able to train thousands of women all over the world through The Balanced Life. It's really a dream come true!
We're all about bold boss moments, tell us about one of yours!
I'd say that one of the boldest things I've done is pursue my own business while moving across the country and having babies. For the past 3 years I've been pregnant/nursing/having babies (I have a 3 year old and 9 month old) and have also grown my business in significant ways. While some people would see having children (and being their primary caretaker) as a limitation, I've used it to improve my productivity and take my success to the next level.
What advice or words of encouragement do you have for the Bold Boss Tribe?
Just launch. I've launched so many things before I felt like I was "ready" and it's led me to where I am today. I hear SO MANY people talking about ideas but they never actually launch it into the world. So my advice is to stop waiting, stop delaying, stop waiting for the perfect moment and get your work out to the world.
