Tell us your bold boss story!
My name is Daniel Nickels I am an independent musician based out of Raleigh, North Carolina. I work a full-time job as a nurse, on my days off I play shows, record in the studio, song-write, collaborate with other musicians, compose and teach guitar. I have played music in a band called "Leeward Fate" for over eight years now and I am currently working on my solo album which will illustrate the very core of my existence through a full length track list. Everyday I am heavy handed in promotion, networking and establishing relationships among other people and artists who are pursuing something bigger than themselves. I mostly spend all of my money on something that is musically related. One of the things that I have learned over the years is that it takes teamwork to help build something from the ground up. You must have the right people in your corner who you can rely on and trust at all times. Having the wrong people can truly make or break your business. I am constantly in pursuit of the next song to write, the bigger venue to play and the next hand to shake to take my business up to the next steppingstone in my musical career.
We're all about bold boss moments, tell us about one of yours!
I was playing a venue in Wilmington, N.C. to a very small crowd when all the sudden around one hundred people showed up all wearing santa costumes, and immediately started dancing to the music. At that moment, I knew I made the right decision to book that particular venue.
