Tell us your bold boss story!:

Bold & Pop : #BoldBossTribe Feature with Carli Ambrose of Lowlights and Leopard

I'm a hairstylist. I work behind the chair, I educate for Goldwell and I do social media consulting for salons. I went to a technical high school for cosmetology and little did I know that at 13 I made one of the best decisions of my life. My parents were hard workers and I had a strong work ethic instilled in me from a young age. I had a very non traditional high school experience-- I attended 3 different high schools, was suspended, dropped out, enrolled in night school, enrolled in beauty school and I ended up graduating high school a year early, with a diploma. I started working behind the chair when I was 17 and haven't looked back since. I pride myself on continued education and staying on top of what's trending in the industry. I've networked with industry companies and the major trade magazines and have had my work published on their websites and social media platforms. I worked under someone for 10 years before renting my own space and running my own business.

We're all about bold boss moments, tell us about one of yours!:

Some of my proudest achievements are becoming an educator for an international color company (Goldwell; KAO brands). Opening my own studio. Despite the stigma attached to the profession, it has afforded me a comfortable lifestyle, a creative outlet and I'm blessed to say I wake up every morning and still love what I do. All the goals I've set and achieved only motivate me to work harder and raise the bar. I've taught classes in salons-- next up, on a main stage. I've been published online--next is in print. Never stop achieving!

What advice or words of encouragement do you have for the Bold Boss Tribe?:

My advice to the Bold Boss Tribe is get up and make it happen! If it drives you, if you can't get it off your mind-- make it a reality. If the job that you want doesn't exist-- create it. if the job is taken-- put in your dues and fight for it. No is not final-- and yes isn't irrefutable . You have to keep putting in that work every day. Surround yourself with motivated people and go-getters and you will always stay inspired.
